Following the partial wall collapse in the Hoosac Tunnel yesterday, Pan Am Railway’s engineering department found more damage than originally anticipated. The latest estimate for the Hoosac Tunnel returning to service is Monday, February 17th. We continue to explore detour options using other railroads, but no executable solution has been established. At this time there is no viable route between Chicago and Ayer.
In an effort to minimize the impact on train and terminal operations, effective 8:00pm EDT, February 13th, the following origin ingate closures will take place:
- Chicago shipments destined for Ayer
- Ayer shipments destined for Chicago
The closures will remain in place until conditions in the lane improve.
