NS Veterans Remember
Railroads have served the military since the Civil War. Whether carrying troops or equipment to port cities for overseas deployment or supporting domestic operations and facilities, America's railroads have been part of the nation's armed forces efforts in war and in peace.
Norfolk Southern employees have been part of those efforts. They have served from the Civil War to the world wars of the 20th century to Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf Wars and various peacekeeping operations around the world. More than 100 NS employees have been called to active duty for Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
